430

430 grade stainless steel is a low-carbon stainless steel grade that is classified as ferretic stainless steel and contains approximately 17% chromium. This quality is called 1.4016 or X6Cr17 according to the EN norm, and S43000 according to the UNS norm.

Since 430 stainless steel materials do not contain nickel and molybdenum, they are more affordable than 300 series stainless steels. Stainless materials of this quality provide a good surface appearance. These materials are very suitable for polishing and buffing. Since 430 quality stainless steel materials do not contain nickel, magnet attracts the material. This stainless steel grade is not heat-treated and can often be confused with the 431 grade due to its name similarity. 430 and 431 grade materials are very different stainless steel grades from each other and are not alike in any way. Finally, it should be noted that the weldability of 430 stainless materials is limited.
